Community
I fix the systems so good people can get on with the work.
Every community organisation I've worked with had the same problem as every trade business I work with: good people, no systems, and compliance that stops them getting the grant or the contract. So I fixed it.
Where I've done it
2020 to 2022
Open Haven, domestic violence charity
Put their compliance and systems in place so the people running it could get on with running it.
Pro bono2021 to 2023
Fishers of Men, food relief
Grant applications, Blue Cards for volunteers, delivery rosters, and bringing their premises up to council fire and safety compliance with written operating manuals. I was on the delivery roster too.
Pro bono2022 to 2025
St Paul's Anglican Church, Manly
Community Coordinator for three years and a member of Parish Council. Pastoral care, rosters, newsletters, live streaming, compliance administration, and building the link between the parish and Anglicare.
2026 to now
Bridge to Unity, UK refugee charity
Overseeing admin and systems through an organisational overhaul, and building a multilingual app with the founder to support newly arrived families.
Pro bono2026 to now
Fishlee, a free app for local families
A private fishing logbook given free to families in the Redlands. Kids log each catch, parents hold the account, and nothing is shared outside the family. Designed with a 13-year-old angler.
Member, Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce, because local businesses do better when they know each other.
Free Tender Ready sessions for local trades
Before the major-project work arrives, I'm running free sessions for trade businesses in the Redlands and Brisbane on what head contractors and government buyers will ask for, and how to have it ready. Local work should stay with local trades.
Find out about the sessionsNeed a speaker for your group?
I talk to chambers, community groups, councils and industry groups about getting small businesses ready for the work that's coming. Plain English, no slides you can't read, questions welcome.
Ask about a talkIf you run a community organisation, or represent one, say hello.
I'm always happy to talk about what's possible.
